City of Wyoming - Downtown Development Authority - About and History

Learn more about the Wyoming, Michigan Downtown Development Authority and the recent 28 West initiative, a long-term vision for 28th Street to become a sustainable, economically vibrant, walkable town center.

The Wyoming Downtown Development Authority was created in December of 1999 to increase property tax valuation and to promote economic development and growth in the three-mile area bordering both sides of 28th Street between Division Avenue and Byron Center Avenue, called Wyoming Town Center.

The DDA membership includes owners and managers of businesses in Wyoming Town Center, as well as City representatives and staff.

DDA Projects

Most recently, the DDA has focused on 28 West, a long-term vision for 28th Street to become a sustainable, economically vibrant, walkable town center. The DDA, in cooperation with the business community, property owners, city leaders and citizens have focused their efforts on cultivating a new, vibrant destination in Wyoming.

Other joint projects between the DDA, area businesses and the City of Wyoming have included:

  • Streetscape, landscaping, lighting and holiday decoration
  • Research, marketing and promotion
  • Strategic planning and development streamlining
