What meters are being replaced?
For residential customers, if your meter is over 15 years old it will be replaced when the AMI is installed.
For commercial customers, if your water meter is over 10 years old it will be replaced when the AMI is installed.
Will my water bill go up?
If your water meter is changed out, your water bill may go up as a result of having a new, more accurate water meter.
What happens if I have a problem after the installation?
If you have a leak, pressure issue, or some other problem after the installation, please contact the Utility Billing office at (616) 530-7389.
What is the City’s policy about water meter access?
Per the City Council Policy Manual, “City shall have the right to shut off the supply of water to any premises where there is not any easy access to the meter. Any authorized City employee shall, at all reasonable hours, have the right to enter the premises where such meters are installed for the purpose of reading, testing, removing or inspecting the meter or for the purpose of inspecting any pipe or fixture connected to the City water system. No person shall hinder, obstruct or interfere with such employee in the lawful discharge of his duties.” Page 8-4 of the City Council Policy Manual.
Additionally, Section 86-31 of the City of Wyoming Code states that “The director shall have the right to shut off the supply of water to any premises where there is not easy access to the meter. How long will the meter replacement take?
For residential customers, this should take around 30 minutes.
For commercial customers, this may take several hours depending on the size of the meter.
Will my water be shut off during the replacement?
Yes, your water will be shut off while the meter is being replaced.
