The Wyoming Fire Department is seeking applicants for a Fire Inspector position. Consider joining the dedicated public service professionals at the City of Wyoming.
The Fire Inspector performs technical and specialized fire inspection and plan review work involving commercial and residential buildings and other structures to ensure compliance with established standards and ordinances, codes, rules, and regulations governing fire prevention and safety. Additionally, this position investigates the origin and cause of fires.
The Fire Inspector assists with the review of requests for permits in accordance with established standards. This position is tasked with the review of a variety of plan types including building, site, and life safety systems to ensure compliance with the City’s adopted fire code and the associated standards. The Fire Inspector may be responsible for representing the City during development-related meetings with associated stakeholders including architects, civil engineers, fire protection engineers, property owners, and government officials among others. The Fire Inspector is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate reports, preparing correspondence, and completing and/or assisting with the submittal of required regulatory filings. The Fire Inspector will respond to fires, other incidents, and assists in firefighting and rescue activities.
Applicants are required to possess a State of Michigan certified Firefighter II (or its equivalent), State HazMat Operations Certification (or its equivalent), and State Medical First Responder (or its equivalent). A successful candidate shall obtain and maintain the Michigan Certified Fire Inspector program or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Inspector I, II (CFI-I, II) and Plan Review (CFPE) credentials within one year of hire.

The annual wage range for this position is $88,899.20 to $92,393.60. The hourly wage range for this position is $42.74 to $44.42 per hour. These hours are based on a 40-hour work week and 2,080 hours annually and does not include overtime that may be earned.
