The Housing Inspector position performs detailed technical
and specialized inspection work involving the enforcement of City codes that
regulate the health and safety of properties, building construction and zoning
to ensure compliance with established standards, ordinances, codes, rules, and
regulations. This position performs field inspections, interprets, and enforces
municipal adopted codes related to property maintenance and rental housing.
This position may also be responsible for acting in the
capacity of a mechanical inspector or code enforcement inspector if assigned.
This position is responsible for the preparation of detailed records and
reports as well as the preparation of correspondence. This position works with
a diverse group of external contacts as well as internal contacts at different
levels of the organization. This position may occasionally support the Mechanical
Inspector and have experience in the mechanical trade.
Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and
organize a diversified workload. The Housing Inspector position applies
specialized functional knowledge to analyze and respond to rental housing
inspection matters as well as building inspection matters and code enforcement
within established limits.
