Wyoming, Michigan, March 30, 2017 – The City of Wyoming has again received top honors for its comprehensive annual financial report.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, or GFOA, as awarded the City its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. Wyoming’s recognition represents a significant accomplishment by its government and management.
The award is given to those who meet a high standard and demonstrate a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story as well as motivate community members and potential users to read the financial report. The award was distributed by an impartial panel to the primary contributors to the annual report.
“We are pleased that our annual financial report has again achieved honors from GFOA,” said Curtis Holt, Wyoming city manager. “This represents a significant accomplishment by our Council and City leadership. We strive for transparency in communications like this and appreciate the national recognition for our efforts.
This is the City of Wyoming’s 28th GFOA award.
GFOA is a professional association serving the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. It provides top quality publication, training programs, services and products designed to enhance skills and performance of those responsible for government finance policy and management.
