The City of Wyoming, led by its Community Services Department’s Building Inspections team, invites the community to join in celebrating Building Safety Month during the month of May. The theme for this year, organized by the International Code Council (ICC), is Building Codes Save Lives.
Building codes and the officials who enforce them are making our families and communities safer and more resilient. Homes and buildings that are built in compliance with building safety codes result in resilient structures that minimize the risks of death, injury and property damage. In the wake of gale force straight line wind storms, tornadoes floods, and even earthquakes, building safety is even more important. Building safety affects everyone, and modern, updated building codes save lives.
The City of Wyoming will be observing Building Safety Month by sharing helpful information and ideas via social media throughout May. In addition, staff are always available to answer questions and assist when necessary.
“When our building safety and fire prevention experts inspect buildings and review constructions plans to ensure code compliance, they help to ensure the places where you live, work and play are safe,” said Rebecca Rynbrandt, Director of Community Services for the City of Wyoming. “Our team of professional inspectors work closely with homebuilders, contractors, plumbers, roofers and other construction industry trades to provide for the public safety of our community.”
