The Public Safety Academy originally scheduled for the spring of 2020 has been postponed due to the impacts of COVID-19.
The Public Safety Citizen Academy is a free 6-week program for Wyoming residents which offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the Wyoming Department of Public Safety. The academy is one night each week for 2-hours.
Participants will:
â—Ź Meet WYDPS command staff, including Chiefs of Police and Fire
â—Ź Go behind the scenes of Patrol Operations
â—Ź Find out what it takes to run the Wyoming Fire Department
â—Ź Learn the same use of force tactics taught to Wyoming police officers
â—Ź See the latest in forensic technology
â—Ź Check out special operations including the K-9 unit, TAC Team, and Motor Unit
â—Ź Learn about police driving techniques and how officers utilize their patrol vehicle
â—Ź Take a peek inside the Investigative Division
The Academy offers participants detailed insight into how our department operates and how we serve the community. It helps create well-informed community members who possess greater knowledge of public safety practices and services.
