The Wyoming Public Safety Department is excited to announce the 2021 Wyoming Public Safety Academy. The Wyoming Public Safety Citizen Academy has been established to continue positive relationships between the citizens of Wyoming and their Public Safety Department. The goal is to develop and increase mutual awareness and understanding of the Public Safety role in our community. We feel that we have things to learn from community members and hope that you may walk away with a greater understanding of us. This is just one of many outreach efforts to support the City of Wyoming’s Mission Statement of Community, Safety, and Stewardship.
The Wyoming Public Safety Citizen Academy is a six (6) week program that meets once a week on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The dates of the academy are October 5, October 12, October 19, October 26, November 2, and November 9. The academy allows citizens to become more educated on the Wyoming Department of Public Safety and some of the challenges we face. We are seeking a diverse group of people that live and/or work in the City of Wyoming to participate.
Topics presented include:
• Meet the Chief and police staff
• Fire Department
• 911 Communications Center
• Criminal Investigations/VICE
• Crime Scene Processing and Forensics
• Patrol Operations
• Community Services
• TACT & K9
• Current issues/trends
Who Can Apply:
Live or work in the City of Wyoming. Be at least 18 years of age. No prior felony convictions and no misdemeanor assault or drug charges.

You will be notified if you are selected to participate. The academy is limited to 40 attendees. Preference to those that have not attended a prior academy and order of receipt of completed applications from qualified candidates.
