Wyoming Employees Community Outreach
The Wyoming Employees Community Outreach (WECO) is a non-profit organization focused on providing resources and assistance to children who live or attend school in Wyoming. Major funding for the outreach is raised through voluntary donations primarily from City of Wyoming employees.
The idea for this outreach program started shortly after the tragedy on September 11, 2001. Those events touched the heart of Paul Turner, an employee who was determined to do something locally to help children in our community. With the help of like-minded coworkers, the program started to take shape. After additional employees joined the cause, a board of current and former City employees was established and non-profit status was achieved. In September 2003, City employees began donating a portion of their paychecks to WECO; the outreach was officially in motion.
Since October 2003, over 1,000 families have been assisted with WECO pledges totaling more than $210,000 - benefiting over 2,900 children living in Wyoming. Paul's dream became a reality!
WECO is a great example of City employees and other contributors working together to help families in need that live in our community. The City of Wyoming is proud to know that City employees have been "Making a Difference in a Child’s Life!" since 2003.
