How do I get to the court?

We are located at 2650 DeHoop Ave SW in the city of Wyoming, near the intersection of 28th St and DeHoop. We are located to the north of City Hall, with a parking lot in between us. We are near bus stop #6279 on Route 3—Wyoming/Rivertown

How do I dispute a ticket?

Within 10 days of receiving a civil infraction you must contact the court in person or by phone to request a hearing in front of a magistrate or judge, to be set for a later date and time. Simply visit the Traffic/Criminal window on the 2nd floor for assistance.

I have a warrant for my arrest out of this court. What are my options?

You may turn yourself in at the Kent County Correctional Facility at any time. However, we encourage individuals to appear in person, any day Monday through Friday at 9:15am to appear before a judge.

I missed my court date—what should I do?

If you have an attorney representing you, contact them immediately for advice. Otherwise, call the court for information on how to proceed. It is always best to be proactive about a missed court date.

I can’t make it to my court date—what should I do?

Due to a variety of factors, the court RARELY reschedules court dates. In limited situations, we can adjourn your appearance to another date or sometimes we will offer you remote participation. Please call the court if you cannot make it as scheduled.

Can I appear for court remotely?

The court is in the process of becoming more remote-friendly and creating a policy for remote proceedings. Currently it is decided on a case-by-case basis. Please call the court for more information.

How do I obtain a Personal Protection Order (PPO)?

PPOs are not granted by district courts. To obtain a PPO you must visit the 17th Circuit Court Personal Protection Orders Department at 180 Ottawa NW, Suite 3500, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. More information can be found at https://www.accesskent.com/Courts/17thcc/ppo.htm

Where can I find court forms?

The State Court Administrative Office publishes generic court forms to use across various Michigan courts. Their website is user friendly and searchable by form name or number. Find them at https://www.courts.michigan.gov/administration/offices/scao-main/

For 2024, the court will be closed on the following days for holiday observance (please note—the observed day might not be on the actual holiday):
