This is the city’s oldest residential district and Michigan’s largest and finest concentration of nineteenth and early twentieth-century houses.
These were the homes of lumber barons, politicians, bankers, attorneys, judges, and clothiers who shaped the city’s future. This is was where
the upper crust lived…on “the hill”. Learn about the history of these magnificent historic homes…both the architecture and the people who built
them. This tour is divided into multiple parts as it traverses varying sections of the stunning, tree-lined residential streets.
